Winifred Bamford Hesketh Almshouses - Abergele North Wales - est 1961 - charity 241908

Management

The Trustees

In the original Scheme (1957), the Winifred Bamford Hesketh Almshouses charity was managed by a board of five Trustees, one ex officio (the Vicar of Abergele), and four co-opted. This arrangement worked very well for over 50 years, but at an Extraordinary Meeting of Trustees on 8th May, 2018 it was decided to make the following amendments (1) that the total number of trustees be increased from five to six (one ex officio and five co-opted), and (2) that the incumbent, if he/she so wishes, may nominate, in consultation with the Co-opted Trustees, another competent person from the Aled Mission Area as the ex officio trustee in his/her stead.

The current Trustees are as follows:

TBC - ex officio

Mr Gwynfryn Jones - co-opted

Mr Alun Owen - co-opted

Mrs Tracey Brennan - co-opted

Mr John Jones - co-opted

Meetings and Proceedings

A Chairman is elected annually at the first ordinary meeting (usually in January or February). If the Chairman is absent from a meeting, any of the other Trustees may be nominated to act as Chairman for that meeting. When there is equality of votes on an issue, the Chairman has a casting vote. Three Trustees form a quorum.

Typically, ordinary meetings are held every three months, and minutes of the proceedings are kept in a special book. A record of all the Charity’s financial affairs is kept on spreadsheets, and up-to-date ‘hard’ copies of Trial Balances are distributed to the Trustees at each ordinary meeting. However, much of the practical business of running the charity is conducted informally, by telephone, e-mail, and site-meetings.

The Trustees also rely heavily on the following officers for the efficient and effective management of the charity:

TBC - Warden

Ms Tracee Winstone - Clerk
